The video card is a PCI Express 2.0 card.
As long as the motherboard accommodates a PCI-Express X16 slot, then the card will fit. However if the motherboard does not support PCI-Express 2.0, then it will work at speeds prior to that, and that motherboard has a PCI-Express 2.0 as well.
Basically yes it will work.
And chipsets do matter to the cards, for example AGPX8 video card bus needs an AGP compatible card, so any new video card would not work in a very old motherboard such as one with an AGP slot.
